What the Senate was voting on
The Senate voted on whether to waive the Congressional Budget Act budget rules for S.Amdt. 5556, which would bar Senate-confirmed heads of other federal agencies or departments from serving as acting Director of National Intelligence. S. 2 would provide $70 billion through FY2029 for immigration enforcement, border security and related activities. The motion was rejected, falling 11 votes short of the 60 needed.
Set aside the Congressional Budget Act budget rules that S.Amdt. 5556 would otherwise break.
