Tom Emmer has represented Minnesota’s 6th district in the U.S. House since 2015. House Majority Whip; vice chair of the House Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology, and Artificial Intelligence.
An attorney and lobbyist, Emmer served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011 and chaired the National Republican Congressional Committee from 2019 to 2023.
Emmer earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1984 and a Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law in 1988. Emmer worked as an attorney and lobbyist before serving in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Emmer ran for Minnesota governor in 2010 and lost, then was elected to the U.S. House in 2014 and began representing Minnesota's 6th congressional district in 2015.
