Patty Murray has represented Washington in the U.S. Senate since 1993. Ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Committee; ranking member of the Senate Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development.
A former preschool and parenting teacher, Murray served on a King County school board and in the Washington State Senate from 1989 to 1993.
Murray earned a Bachelor of Arts from Washington State University in 1972, worked as a preschool teacher and as a parenting teacher at Shoreline Community College, and served on a King County school board. Murray served in the Washington State Senate from 1989 to 1993 before entering the U.S. Senate in 1993.
