Virginia Foxx has represented North Carolina’s 5th district in the U.S. House since 2005. Chair of the House Rules Committee.
An educator, Foxx served in the North Carolina Senate from 1994 to 2004 and held a leadership role in the House Republican Conference from 2013 to 2016.
Foxx earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1968 and studied there in 1972. Foxx later earned a Doctor of Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1985 and worked as an educator. Foxx served in the North Carolina Senate from 1994 to 2004, then entered the U.S. House in 2005.
