Sewell earned a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University in 1986, a master’s degree from St Hilda’s College in 1988, and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 1992. Before entering politics, Sewell worked as a securities lawyer at Davis Polk & Wardwell and a public finance lawyer at Maynard, Cooper & Gale.
