A lawyer, Bonamici served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2007 to 2008 and the Oregon State Senate from 2008 to 2011.
Bonamici earned an associate degree from Lane Community College in 1978, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon in 1980, and a law degree from the University of Oregon in 1983. Bonamici worked as a lawyer before serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2007 to 2008 and the Oregon State Senate from 2008 to 2011.
