Mark Harris has represented North Carolina’s 8th district in the U.S. House since 2025. On the November 3, 2026 ballot for re-election.
A Baptist pastor, Harris won the 2018 general election for North Carolina’s 9th congressional district, but the election results were later dismissed and Harris did not take office.
Harris studied at Appalachian State University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and worked as a Baptist pastor. Harris ran for the U.S. Senate in 2014 and for North Carolina’s 9th congressional district in 2016, losing both Republican primaries. Harris won the 2018 general election for the 9th district, but the state election board dismissed the results and called for a new election; Harris did not run in that election.
