An attorney, Kennedy served as Louisiana state treasurer from 2000 to 2017 and worked as special counsel and a cabinet member to Governor Buddy Roemer from 1988 to 1992.
Kennedy earned a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University in 1973, a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1977, and a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford in 1979. An attorney, Kennedy joined Governor Buddy Roemer’s staff as special legal counsel in 1988 and later served as a cabinet member, leaving the staff in 1991.
