Chuck Grassley has represented Iowa in the U.S. Senate since 1981, after serving in the House from 1975 to 1981. President Pro Tempore of the Senate; chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Grassley served in the Iowa House from 1959 to 1975 and represented Iowa’s 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House from 1975 to 1981.
Grassley earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1955 and a postgraduate degree there in 1956, then studied at the University of Iowa in 1958. Grassley served in the Iowa House from 1959 to 1975, represented Iowa’s 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House from 1975 to 1981, and entered the U.S. Senate in 1981.
