Timely and Accurate Benefits Act
- Require states to use income verification platforms: To receive federal funds for covered benefit programs, a state would have to procure, contract for, and use an Enhanced Income Verification Platform within one year after enactment
- Cover income-based federal benefit programs: The requirement would apply to programs run by federal, state, or local governments with federal funds when a person's or household's income helps determine eligibility or benefit amounts. The bill defines income broadly, including employment earnings, benefits, rental income, child support, and recurring gifts
- Check permissioned account data: The platform would use automated, real-time data matching and analysis to flag possible unreported income, inconsistent reporting, or other signs of ineligibility or improper payments. It would analyze transaction data from deposit accounts with an applicant's permission, allow a claimant to review and attest to the data's accuracy, and identify overlapping records to avoid double-counting
