Rachel Wallace, a former government staffer, is running for the Democratic nomination in Pennsylvania’s 9th Congressional District. She criticized Rep. Dan Meuser’s vote for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, described her campaign priorities and received former Rep. Tim Holden’s endorsement.
Wallace, who previously worked for former Rep. Tim Holden, in the State Department, on a senator’s staff and at the White House Office of Management and Budget, said her experience motivated her to run for the 9th District. She criticized Meuser’s support of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, saying it would take health insurance from 18,000 people and SNAP benefits from 8,000 people in the district. Those effects were Wallace’s characterization of the bill.
Wallace said her priorities include lowering health care costs, reducing the cost of living and bringing federal funding to local projects. Holden endorsed her, saying she would work to bring money to the district and avoid party bickering. Wallace is running against Daniel Byron and Jenn Brothers in the May 19 Democratic primary.
