TAP FOR WHYCredibility rates townhall.com, where this article appeared. The other scores rate the article itself.
Townhall is an opinion-oriented publisher, and this piece uses a strongly judgmental voice rather than presenting itself as neutral reporting. The named author and attribution to Politico provide some transparency, but the publisher’s partisan opinion format limits the score.
- Source type — Opinion-oriented publisher; the piece is explicitly framed as conservative commentary.
- Editorial standards — The text mixes reported claims with the author's emphatic judgments.
- Author attribution — A named author is identified.
- Transparency — Some quoted material is attributed to Politico and named lawyers.
The article identifies the lawyers making the claims and includes the attorney’s acknowledgment and response. However, it is brief, uses loaded commentary, and offers limited independent context or corroboration for the underlying allegations.
HOW WE SCORE ↗The article gives substantial space to allegations and condemns Miller’s public response, while also including his denial and his lawyer’s apology and explanation. Its loaded commentary and limited independent context make the presentation largely one-sided.
- Loaded language — The author calls Miller's video a 'trainwreck' and urges him to drop out.
- Counterarguments presented — Miller's denial and his attorney's account of an accidental release are included.
- Source diversity — The article cites statements from lawyers on both sides but provides little additional sourcing.
- Omitted context — The underlying allegations and the release are not independently examined in depth.
The piece uses harsh language against Miller, but its criticism concerns a Republican representative and does not establish a clear left- or right-leaning policy frame. The political lean is therefore not discernible from the article’s framing alone.
- Language tone — The language is sharply critical of Miller, without a clear ideological argument.
- Framing — The focus is on the handling of sensitive family-related documents and the response to abuse allegations.
- Source selection — The article includes statements from both sides' lawyers, though mainly through attributed excerpts.

Rep. Max Miller’s lawyer accepted responsibility for accidentally releasing a sensitive image of Miller’s daughter in documents Miller posted while responding to his former wife’s abuse allegations. Miller denies wrongdoing, and the disclosure has intensified scrutiny of his public defense.
Miller posted a video and a folder of documents as he responded to allegations from his former wife, Emily Moreno. Moreno’s lawyers said the folder included their daughter’s name and an image that could be considered child sexual abuse material; they said the image was later removed. Miller’s attorney, Aaron Minc, accepted responsibility for the release and called it an unintentional mistake.
Minc apologized to both families but accused Moreno’s lawyer of using the incident to gain leverage and distract from evidence he said exonerated Miller. Miller denied the allegations, which include claims that he poured hot water on Moreno, held a gun to her head and broke their daughter’s collarbone.
