Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis criticized Angie Nixon’s Senate campaign after her primary win, backed Ryan Elijah after Cory Mills lost his primary, and described the arrest of his former appointee Michael Caruso as a “gut punch.”
After Angie Nixon defeated Alex Vindman in the Democratic Senate primary, DeSantis said he did not expect her to win support in conservative parts of Florida and called her a self-described socialist. He also claimed Republicans’ voter-registration advantage in the state had grown substantially since he took office. Nixon will face Sen. Ashley Moody in November, after Moody won the Republican primary.
