- Transparency — The article explains that the questionnaire was compiled by the Southern California News Group.
- Editorial standards — The format provides little evidence of independent sourcing or fact-checking in this particular article.
The questionnaire clearly presents a range of attributable answers, but it is a single candidate’s account of his own positions, with no independent evidence, follow-up questions, or contrasting candidate responses.
HOW WE SCORE ↗The format is transparent, but the article gives readers only Lutz’s responses and does not provide other candidates’ views or independent scrutiny of his claims.

- Counterarguments presented — No contrasting candidate or counterarguments are included.

Erik Lutz, a Democratic candidate for California’s 38th Congressional District, answered a primary-election questionnaire on immigration, disaster aid, defense, and other issues. He outlined policy proposals he would pursue if elected.
The Southern California News Group compiled questions for candidates ahead of the June primary. Lutz, identified as a Pico Rivera councilman and real estate broker, said his priorities include immigration policy, tariffs and energy prices. He described proposals on immigration, voting access, disaster aid, congressional stock trading, environmental regulations, defense, and social media restrictions for children.
Lutz also proposed improving police-prosecutor data sharing to address repeat offenses and said he supports congressional term limits of 12 to 16 years. The questionnaire presents Lutz’s responses and does not include opposing candidates’ answers.
