During the debate, Moulton questioned Markey about a meeting connected to a lobbyist whose email about the meeting was later forwarded to Jeffrey Epstein. Markey said he had never met Epstein. Justice Department files show Markey met with colleagues of lobbyist Bob Crowe in 2015, but the email does not show Markey knew Epstein was involved. PolitiFact also noted that being named in the files is not evidence of wrongdoing.
The candidates also discussed Moulton’s comments about transgender athletes, health records and Medicare for All. Moulton has cosponsored the Equality Act and voted against the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act; he has called for Markey to release his health records.
