Rep. Jason Crow, who appeared in a video reminding service members they must refuse illegal orders, said he would not be intimidated after President Trump accused the lawmakers of sedition and posted that it was punishable by death. Crow said he had received death threats following Trump's posts.
Six Democratic lawmakers with military or intelligence backgrounds posted a video this week reminding service members that they can and must refuse illegal orders. Trump responded on Truth Social by accusing them of sedition and writing that it was “punishable by DEATH!” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the president did not want to execute members of Congress and argued that the video could undermine the military chain of command.
Crow told Morning Edition that he considered Trump's post a death threat and said he had received additional threats. He said the video addressed the obligation to refuse unlawful orders, not lawful ones, and explained that it was intended to prepare troops for possible future situations. Crow said he would not be intimidated or stop carrying out his oath.
