After President Donald Trump called Rep. Thomas Massie a “moron” and criticized his voting record, Massie responded with posts defending his positions and mocking Trump’s attack. The dispute also included Trump’s criticism of Massie’s wife and Massie’s account of asking Pam Bondi about the Epstein files.
Trump criticized Massie during a Thursday National Prayer Breakfast speech, calling him a “moron” and “an automatic no” on measures backed by other House Republicans. Massie responded in a text message and posts, saying he votes against some Republican measures when he believes they involve excessive spending, war or cover-ups.
In a post Monday, Trump called Massie disloyal and praised challenger Ed Gallrein. Massie later said Trump was attacking his wife and suggested she had prompted him to ask Attorney General Pam Bondi when the second phase of the Epstein files would be released. Massie said Bondi told him there were no more files.
