Thomas Massie’s microphone was taken from him while he was speaking at a Kentucky Republican dinner. The county party chair said Massie had exceeded his allotted time; Massie said he was using his remarks to defend his wife.
At the Oldham County Republican Party’s Lincoln Day Dinner, Kentucky state House Speaker David Osborne removed the microphone while Massie was speaking. Massie finished his sentence without it, telling the audience, “I fight for you!” The party chair, Blaine Anderson, said Massie had received an extra minute and the microphone was taken only after his time ran out.
Massie said he knew he was over the time limit and was using his remarks to defend his wife after President Donald Trump made an insulting post about her that was reposted by Massie’s primary challenger, Ed Gallrein. Massie also speculated that Osborne may have misunderstood a remark about the U.S. House Speaker, Mike Johnson. Trump has endorsed Gallrein, who also spoke at the dinner and was not cut off.
