SOURCE CHECK
TAP FOR WHYCredibility rates Colorado Politics, which republished this story. The other scores rate the article itself.
Colorado Politics is an established local political news outlet with a named author and a clear editorial publisher. This voter guide presents candidates’ responses directly, though much of its policy information is supplied by the candidates rather than independently verified.
- Source type — Established local political news outlet; a generally credible source for Colorado politics.
- Transparency — The guide identifies the candidate responses and explicitly notes that Peterson’s campaign did not participate.
- Author attribution — The article identifies a named author.
- Editorial standards — The page is presented as a structured voter guide, but the article itself offers limited independent verification of candidates’ claims.
The guide gives readers comparable questions and direct answers from two candidates, and clearly discloses that Peterson did not respond. Most policy claims are candidate statements, however, and receive little independent scrutiny or contextual checking.
HOW WE SCORE ↗Kiros and Blau receive substantial space to answer the same questions, and the article explains why Peterson’s answers are absent. The result is a transparent but uneven comparison, with little independent testing of the candidates’ claims.
- Counterarguments presented — The voter guide presents two candidates’ differing positions, but does not include Peterson’s responses.
- Source diversity — Most substantive policy information comes directly from the candidates.
- Opinion vs reporting — The format is a voter guide rather than commentary or advocacy.
- Omitted context — The article provides limited independent context or verification for claims in the answers.
The article uses a structured voter-guide format and presents candidates’ policy statements without endorsing them. Peterson’s nonparticipation leaves her views less fully represented, but the article does not show a clear partisan framing.
- Language tone — The narration is largely neutral and descriptive.
- Framing — The article is organized around the candidates’ answers to the same questions.
- Source selection — Candidate-provided responses dominate; Peterson’s campaign did not participate.
