John Fetterman voted with nearly all Republicans against a resolution requiring a report on alleged Israeli abuses in the West Bank. The measure, led by Chris Van Hollen, failed 47-51.
Fetterman joined nearly every Republican senator in voting against Van Hollen’s resolution, which would have required the Trump administration to produce an unclassified report on Israeli abuses in the West Bank, including the imprisonment and killing of Palestinian Americans. The resolution failed 47-51; Rand Paul was the only Republican senator identified as supporting it.
Van Hollen’s proposal called for a State Department report on Israeli human rights practices and information about alleged killings of U.S. citizens and Americans held in Israeli prisons. Under the Foreign Assistance Act, failure to provide the report would have frozen some U.S. military assistance to Israel. Supporters described the vote’s level of support as historic.
