We call on Senators Schumer and Gillibrand to follow the will of New Yorkers and vote to block weapons and bulldozer sales to Israel,” he said. It is believed that between 80 and 100 were taken into custody. The radicals were trying to gain access to the building, which they claimed houses the offices of Schumer and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), to conduct a sit-in. They contend that approximately 300 protesters took part in the action to pressure Schumer and Gillibrand to ban weapons transfers and sales to Israel. They want a $100 billion request from Trump for Iran war funding blocked by Democrats. “Right now, the Israeli military is using the weapons sold by the U.S. to flatten southern Lebanon, ethnically cleanse Palestinians from the West Bank, and continue its genocide in Gaza,” the group wrote on Instagram. Bernie Sanders attacks Israel… again From Newsweek: The demonstration focused on resolutions introduced by Senator Bernie Sanders, an Independent from Vermont, that could block more than $600 million in U.S. weapons sales to Israel. Similar measures introduced by Sanders in the past have failed, though his most recent effort during the summer drew support from more than half of Senate Democrats amid mounting concern over hunger and humanitarian conditions in Gaza. Schumer and Gillibrand did not support those measures. More anti-Israel protests are already on the radicals’ schedule.
