Troy A. Carter has represented Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. House since May 2021. On the November 3, 2026 ballot for re-election.
Carter previously served on the New Orleans City Council and held seats in both the state house of representatives and the state senate.
Born in New Orleans in 1963, Carter studied at Xavier University of Louisiana and Carnegie Mellon University. Carter held office in the Louisiana House of Representatives, on the New Orleans City Council, and in the Louisiana State Senate representing the 7th district.
