A consultant and manufacturing and service industry executive, Estes served as Sedgwick County treasurer from 2004 to 2010 and Kansas state treasurer from 2011 to 2017.
Estes earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Business Administration at Tennessee Technological University, then worked as a consultant and executive in manufacturing and service industries. Elected Sedgwick County treasurer in 2004 and reelected in 2008, Estes served through 2010. Elected Kansas state treasurer in 2010, Estes held that post from 2011 to 2017.
