Robin L. Kelly
Robin L. Kelly has represented Illinois’s 2nd district in the U.S. House since April 2013. Announced a run for U.S. Senate (IL) in May 2025; not seeking re-election.
Kelly served in the Illinois House from 2003 to 2007, worked as chief of staff to the state treasurer from 2007 to 2010, and was Cook County chief administrative officer from 2010 to 2012.
Kelly earned a bachelor’s degree in 1977 and a master’s degree in 1982 from Bradley University, then a doctorate from Northern Illinois University in 2004. Kelly served in the Illinois House from 2003 to 2007, was chief of staff to the Illinois state treasurer from 2007 to 2010, and served as Cook County chief administrative officer from 2010 to 2012. Kelly was the 2010 nominee for state treasurer but lost the general election.
