Paul D. Ryan
Paul D. Ryan represented Wisconsin’s 1st district in the U.S. House from 1999 to 2019.
Ryan served as Speaker of the House from 2015 to 2019 and was a vice-presidential nominee in 2012.
Ryan earned a bachelor’s degree from Miami University in 1992 and also studied at American University and Marian College in Dublin. Before entering public office, Ryan worked in Washington as a speechwriter and legislative director, then joined the family construction company in Wisconsin in 1997. Ryan served in the U.S. House from 1999 to 2019, chaired the House Budget Committee from 2011 to 2015, and served as Speaker from 2015 to 2019.
