Matt Van Epps won the special election for the seat for Tennessee’s 7th district after Mark E. Green resigned, and took office on December 4, 2025. On the November 3, 2026 ballot for re-election.
Van Epps served as an Army officer and as commissioner of Tennessee’s Department of General Services from 2024 to 2025.
Van Epps earned a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy and a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After serving as an Army officer, Van Epps became commissioner of Tennessee’s Department of General Services in 2024 and held that post through 2025.
