Mark Kelly has represented Arizona in the U.S. Senate since December 2020. Ranking member of two Senate subcommittees: Airland; and Clean Air, Climate, and Nuclear Innovation and Safety.
A retired naval officer and astronaut, Kelly flew Space Shuttle missions from 2001 to 2011 and co-founded a political action committee in 2013.
Kelly earned a Bachelor of Science from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 1986 and a Master of Science from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1994. Kelly served as a naval aviator, flying combat missions during the Gulf War, and was selected as a NASA Space Shuttle pilot in 1996. Kelly piloted missions in 2001 and 2006 and commanded missions in 2008 and 2011. Kelly retired from the Navy and NASA in 2011 and co-founded a political action committee in 2013.
