Representative Mark Amodei announced his retirement from Congress after serving Nevada's 2nd District since 2011.
Mark E. Amodei has represented Nevada’s 2nd district in the U.S. House since September 2011. Not seeking re-election in 2026.
Amodei served in the Nevada Assembly from 1997 to 1999 and the Nevada Senate from 1999 to 2011, including as president pro tempore from 2003 to 2005.
Amodei earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 1980 and a Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific in 1983. Amodei served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps from 1984 to 1987, then in the Nevada Assembly from 1997 to 1999 and the Nevada Senate from 1999 to 2011. Amodei was president pro tempore of the Nevada Senate from 2003 to 2005 and chaired the Nevada Republican Party from 2010 to 2011.
