Katherine M. Clark has represented Massachusetts’s 5th district in the U.S. House since December 2013. House Minority Whip.
A lawyer, Clark served in the state House and Senate before serving as assistant speaker from 2021 to 2023.
Clark earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Lawrence University in 1985 and a master’s degree in public administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government in 1997, and studied at Cornell Law School. Clark worked as an attorney in several states, moved to Massachusetts in 1995, and worked in state government. Clark joined the Melrose School Committee in 2002 and became its chair in 2005. Clark later served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and Senate before winning a 2013 special election to the U.S. House.
