Jimmy Panetta has represented California in the U.S. House since 2017. On the November 3, 2026 ballot for re-election.
A lawyer and former Navy intelligence officer, Panetta worked as a deputy district attorney for Monterey County before entering Congress.
Panetta earned an associate degree from Monterey Peninsula College in 1989, a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis, in 1991, and a law degree from Santa Clara University in 1996. Panetta served as a municipal clerk beginning in 1992 and worked in prosecution from 1996 to 2016, including as a deputy district attorney for Monterey County.
