A former Alameda County deputy district attorney, Swalwell served on the Dublin City Council from 2010 to 2013.
Swalwell earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland in 2003 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 2006. From 2006 to 2012, Swalwell worked as a deputy district attorney in Alameda County. Swalwell served on the Dublin City Council from 2010 to 2013, then won election to the U.S. House in 2012 and served from 2013 to 2026.
