Darin LaHood has represented Illinois in the U.S. House since September 2015. Chair of two House subcommittees: National Security Agency and Cyber and Work and Welfare; vice chair of the House Subcommittee on Central Intelligence Agency.
An attorney, LaHood worked as a congressional staffer from 1990 to 1994, served as a prosecutor from 1997 to 2001 and as U.S. attorney from 2001 to 2005, then represented Illinois’s 37th district in the state Senate from 2011 to 2015.
LaHood earned a bachelor’s degree from Loras College in 1990 and a law degree from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law in 1997. LaHood worked as a congressional staffer from 1990 to 1994, served as a prosecutor from 1997 to 2001, and was U.S. attorney from 2001 to 2005. From 2011 to 2015, LaHood represented Illinois’s 37th district in the state Senate.
