Brian Babin has represented Texas’s 36th district in the U.S. House since 2015. Chair of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee.
Babin is a dentist and former U.S. Air Force servicemember who served as mayor of Woodville from 1982 to 1984. Babin ran for Congress in 1996 and 1998 before winning election in 2014.
Babin earned a bachelor’s degree from Lamar University in 1973 and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1976. Babin served in the U.S. Air Force from 1975 to 1979 and opened a dental practice afterward. Public service included the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners from 1981 to 1987, the Deep East Texas Council of Governments and the Woodville mayor’s office from 1982 to 1984, the Woodville City Council from 1984 to 1989, and the Texas Historical Commission from 1989 to 1995.
