Wenstrup earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Cincinnati in 1980, followed by a Bachelor of Science and a doctorate from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in 1985. Before entering Congress, Wenstrup worked as a podiatric physician and served as a U.S. Army Reserve officer.
