
California lawmaker Aisha Wahab wins special election to succeed Eric Swalwell in Congress
Wahab won the special election for California’s 14th Congressional District and will serve the remainder of Swalwell’s term.
Aisha Wahab won the special election for the seat for California’s 14th district after Eric Swalwell resigned, and took office on September 2, 2026. On the November 3, 2026 ballot for re-election.
Wahab served on the Hayward City Council from 2018 to 2022 and in the California State Senate from 2022 to 2026.
Wahab earned a Bachelor of Arts from San Jose State University in 2010 and a Master of Business Administration from California State University, East Bay, in 2013. Before entering politics, Wahab worked in nonprofit organizations and consulting. Wahab was elected to the Hayward City Council in 2018 and served through 2022, then served in the California State Senate from 2022 to 2026.
