By mail, the ballot must reach the town clerk's office before the polls close (7:00 p.m.) on Election Day; by any means to the clerk's office, or in a secure municipal drop box, before close of business on Mon Nov 2; or hand-delivered to the presiding officer at the voter's polling place before 7:00 p.m. on Election Day (17 V.S.A. § 2543(d)). The SOS recommends mailing 2 weeks before Election Day.

Registration deadline
No registration deadline: eligible people may register any day up to and including Election Day: online (Vermont Voter Portal), by mail, or in person at the town/city clerk's office during normal business hours before Election Day, and at their polling place during polling hours on Election Day (polls close 7:00 p.m.). First-time registrants who register by mail or online must provide ID (a copy with the application, or before voting).
