Rhode Island elections

Deadline: Sun Oct 4, 2026 (30 days before; Rhode Island's rule moving weekend deadlines to the next business day expressly does not apply to registration). Mailed forms count as of their postmark date (a form with a missing or unclear postmark counts if received within 5 days after the deadline). Online via the Voter Information Center (RI driver's license or state ID needed). In person at the local board of canvassers; because Oct 4 is a Sunday, a local board may designate one location with hours that include 1-4 p.m. Election Day registration exists only for President/Vice President in presidential elections, so none in 2026.

Request deadline is a received deadline by 4:00 p.m.. In-person application allowed until 2026-11-02. Return: received-by deadline 2026-11-03; a postmark does not extend it.

Must be received by the State Board of Elections (by mail, or hand delivery to 2000 Plainfield Pike, Cranston) or in an authorized elections drop box by 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tue Nov 3, 2026; on Election Day every polling place also has a receptacle for sealed mail ballots. No postmark grace period.
