Ohio elections

Registration closes Mon Oct 5, 2026: the statutory 30th day before the election is Sun Oct 4 and Ohio moves a Sunday deadline to the next day (R.C. 1.14). County boards of elections and the Secretary of State's office are open until 9 p.m. on Oct 5. Mailed forms must be postmarked by the deadline (forms with no legible postmark count if received no later than 25 days before the election). Online registration counts through the close of registration; from Oct 6 the online system warns the applicant will not be registered for this election. No same-day registration (early voting starts the day after registration closes).

Request deadline is a received deadline by 8:30 p.m.. Return: received-by deadline 2026-11-03; a postmark does not extend it.

Non-UOCAVA absentee ballots must be RECEIVED by the county board of elections by the close of polls, 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, Tue Nov 3, 2026 - by mail (postage-prepaid return envelope), by personal delivery to the board office (voter or listed relatives), or in the board's secure drop box (open until 7:30 p.m. Nov 3). No post-Election-Day grace period (Senate Bill 293); UOCAVA ballots count if received by Nov 7.
