Official state source used over CEIR (CEIR: 2026-10-05 to 2026-11-03): Start agrees: the 2026 calendar lists 'Date by which absentee ballots for a polling place election must be available for voting in person' on Mon Oct 5* (30 days before, postponed from Sun Oct 4). End differs: absentee applications must be received by noon Mon Nov 2, so in-person absentee voting ends then; CEIR ends 2026-11-03, presumably counting late registrants who register and obtain a ballot in person at the county election office until 8 p.m. on Election Day (and special absentee ballots for sudden illness).

    No online registration. Regular registration closes Mon Oct 5, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. (30 days before is Sun Oct 4; postponed per MCA 1-1-307); mailed forms postmarked by Oct 5 and received by Thu Oct 8 count as regular registrations. Late registration starts Tue Oct 6 at the county election office (register, then obtain the ballot in person): through 5:00 p.m. Fri Oct 30, Mon Nov 2 until noon, and on Election Day until 8:00 p.m. (per court order). Saturday Oct 31 registration under SB 490 is enjoined.
