Massachusetts elections

Deadline Saturday Oct 24, 2026 (10 days before the election): online until 11:59 p.m.; mailed forms must be postmarked by Oct 24; in person at the local election office by 5 p.m. (registrars must hold a 9 a.m.-5 p.m. session that day; towns under 1,500 voters may split it into 9-11 a.m. and 3-5 p.m.). No same-day or Election Day registration. Exception: people naturalized after the deadline may register in person at the local election office until 4 p.m. Mon Nov 2.

Request deadline is a received deadline by 5:00 p.m.. Return: postmark counts (mailed (postmarked) on or before Election Day, Nov 3, 2026); ballot must be received by 2026-11-06.

Hand delivery to the local election office, a municipal ballot drop box, or an early voting location during early voting hours: must arrive by close of polls, 8:00 p.m. Tue Nov 3. By mail: postmarked by Nov 3 and received by 5:00 p.m. Fri Nov 6, 2026 (third day after the biennial state election). Ballots cannot be dropped off at a polling place on Election Day.
