ACERO Act
- Direct NASA research toward wildfire aviation: NASA would use its tools and technologies to conduct research and development through the ACERO project or a successor project to improve aerial wildfire response. Work may cover aircraft technology and managing and coordinating aircraft in wildfire airspace
- Build tools for shared aerial awareness: Research may include real-time information sharing among wildfire response teams and an interoperable platform showing the location and status of aerial assets
- Coordinate agencies and avoid duplication: NASA may collaborate with federal, state, and local agencies, regional organizations, commercial partners, and academic institutions. To the maximum extent practicable, it must consult other federal departments and agencies to avoid duplicating work; research may also establish a multiagency plan for coordinating aerial wildfire response
