Protect LNG Act of 2025
- Keep permits valid during litigation: A lawsuit over an LNG facility’s environmental review would not, by itself, affect the validity of its permit, license, or approval
- Require agencies to fix review violations: If a court finds that an environmental review violated the Natural Gas Act or the National Environmental Policy Act, it would send the matter back to the agency to address the violation rather than cancel the approval. The agency would continue processing covered applications
- Route challenges to facility-area appeals courts: Except for cases reviewed by the Supreme Court, the federal appeals court for the circuit where the facility is or would be located would have exclusive authority to review agency orders on covered applications. The court would have to expedite the case and put it on its docket as soon as practicable after it is filed
