NASA Reauthorization Act of 2026
- Authorizes NASA funding for FY2026: The measure authorizes $24,438,336,000 for NASA for fiscal year 2026, divided among exploration, space operations, science, aeronautics, space technology, education, safety and mission services, construction, and the Inspector General
- Continues space exploration programs: NASA would continue work supporting crewed lunar landings and Mars exploration, including the Artemis and Moon to Mars programs. The measure also addresses the Space Launch System, human-rated lunar landers, and advanced spacesuits; later sections cover other exploration topics, including Mars sample return and lunar operations
- Maintains the ISS and plans for low-Earth orbit: NASA would maintain flight activity needed for the International Space Station’s safety and productive use during its operational lifetime, and acquire its eventual deorbit capabilities from U.S. commercial providers. The measure also calls for a low-Earth orbit strategy, an assessment of risks if access to such platforms is interrupted, and support for developing private platforms
