Financial Reporting Threshold Modernization Act
- Raises currency-reporting thresholds: The bill would raise specified $10,000 thresholds for currency transaction reports and certain reports of coins and currency received by nonfinancial businesses to $30,000. The amounts would be adjusted for inflation every five years, rounded to the nearest $500
- Raises suspicious-activity thresholds: Federal agencies would have to raise specified suspicious-activity reporting thresholds from $5,000 to $10,000 and from $2,000 to $3,000. The amounts would be adjusted for inflation every five years, rounded to the nearest $500
- Changes money-services business thresholds: Treasury would raise specified $1,000 thresholds used in the money services business definition to $3,000. These amounts would also be adjusted for inflation every five years, rounded to the nearest $500
