GRID Power Act
- Revise rules for connecting power projects: FERC would change the process for connecting generating units to the electric grid so it addresses delays and helps new dispatchable power projects that could improve grid reliability and resource adequacy connect more quickly and cost-effectively
- Allow providers to seek queue priority: Transmission providers could ask FERC to move qualifying dispatchable power projects to higher positions in their interconnection queues. A request would have to show why prioritization is needed and how it would improve grid reliability or resilience; providers would also have to invite public comment and stakeholder input before submitting it
- Require review and regular updates: FERC would have to approve or deny each provider proposal and periodically review the regulations. Transmission providers would report regularly to FERC on grid reliability and resilience, including actions taken under the law
