SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Reauthorization Act of 2025
- Renew and expand prevention programs: The law reauthorizes many CDC and SAMHSA prevention programs through FY2030, including work on prenatal substance use, infections linked to illicit drug use, overdose monitoring and first-responder training. It also expands overdose-response activities to cover drugs beyond opioids and allows legally marketed reversal drugs or devices
- Extend treatment and workforce programs: The law reauthorizes through FY2030 programs for pregnant and postpartum women, behavioral-health education and training, and loan repayment for substance-use-disorder treatment practitioners. It also adds addiction medicine to a fellowship program and calls for reviews and guidance on mental-health and substance-use treatment
- Continue recovery and job-support programs: The law reauthorizes through FY2030 grants and other support for community recovery, peer support, opioid recovery centers, youth prevention and recovery, recovery housing, and workforce programs. Certain workforce grants may use up to 5% of funds for transportation, and recipients must report employment and earnings outcomes
