WHAT IT WOULD DO · 2 PROVISIONSINTRODUCED IN SENATE
  1. Adds reimbursement for each school lunch

Starting October 1, 2026, each lunch served by a school food authority would receive an additional 45 cents. The amount would be adjusted beginning July 1, 2027.

  2. Adds reimbursement for school breakfasts

Starting October 1, 2026, each free, reduced-price, and other breakfast served by a school food authority would receive an additional 28 cents. The amount would be adjusted beginning July 1, 2027.

THE CONTEXT

The practical stakes are the federal cost of school-meal reimbursements and the amount school food authorities receive for each covered meal. The bill would make the added payments independent of performance measures.
