Foreign influence in U.S. politics and media is a major concern for national security and election integrity. Currently, a disclosure label might only name a specific company or non-profit, which hides the fact that a foreign government is actually pulling the strings or providing the money.

If this bill becomes law, it will be much harder for adversarial governments to mask their influence campaigns behind front groups. Voters will be able to more easily identify 'propaganda' from countries that the U.S. government considers threats, allowing people to better judge the bias and intent of the information they are being shown.
