What the bill would do, and why it matters
Disasters and severe conditions can damage crops or reduce their quality and production. The RAISE Act would let the Agriculture Secretary create a program to pay high-value crop producers for certain resulting losses. The Secretary could use grants to states and territories to run the program.
- INTRODUCED ONLY This bill has been introduced and possibly referred to a committee, but it has not passed any vote. Most introduced bills never become law — they die in committee without a hearing.
