Rep. Barry Moore won the Alabama Republican Senate runoff, CBS News projected. He is positioned to face the Democratic nominee in November, though that contest was still underway.
CBS News projected that Rep. Barry Moore defeated Jared Hudson in Tuesday’s Republican Senate runoff. The runoff followed a primary in which neither candidate reached 50%; Moore had received nearly 40% and Hudson almost 26%. Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall was eliminated in the primary.
Moore is seeking to replace Sen. Tommy Tuberville, who left the Senate to pursue the governor’s office. Moore had President Trump’s endorsement, and he will face either Dakarai Larriett or Everett Wess in November, depending on the outcome of the Democratic runoff.
